BOSTON — Coast Guard and local fire department crews rescued three people Friday morning after their vessel ran aground at the mouth of the Merrimack River in Newburyport.
At around 7:30 a.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston received notification that the 32-foot pleasure craft Warthog ran aground and two of the three people aboard sustained lacerations, and possible fractures.
A 29-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Merrimack River launched and recovered all three people and brought them back to the station where local emergency medical services were waiting.
Medical personnel transported the injured to a local hospital for further care.
