SEATTLE – The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing person after a vehicle was found unclaimed on the Washington State Ferry (WSF) Cathlamet, Monday.
Coast Guard was called by WSF authorities at approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday, after a car was found unattended when the boat arrived at its Clinton, Wash., ferry terminal.
A 25-foot small response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle was dispatched to assist federal, state and local responders including Washington State patrol, South Whidbey Fire department, a helicopter crew from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, and Edmonds and Everett rescue crews in the search.
WSF is working in conjunction with Washington State Patrol to identify the owner of the vehicle.
The Coast Guard asks any mariner that sees signs of distress on the water call their local Coast Guard unit or 911 immediately.
