Coast Guard, local authorities end search for person in the water south of Gloucester Harbor

47 GloucesterBOSTON — The body of the missing fisherman who was swept out to sea was  Thursday in Magnolia Point.

At approximately 4:50 p.m, Gloucester police department reported to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston they found Manoel DeSonsa in the vicinity of Shore Drive in Magnolia Point in Gloucester. Massachusetts State police confirmed his identity. DeSonsa was found about .5 miles south of his last known location.

Initially, members from the Gloucester police department notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Gloucester at about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, reporting two people were fishing on the rocks and were swept out to sea. One of the fishermen made it back to shore safely, but lost sight of his fishing partner, DeSonsa.

The Coast Guard and local authorities searched approximately 112 miles through the night from Old House Cove to Rafes Chasm Park yielding no results.
