A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, from Air Station North Bend and forward deployed to Coast Guard Air Facility Newport, hoisted the hikers and transported them to local agency partners on the nearby beach.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Bend received a request for assistance at 3:29 p.m. from Lincoln County Dispatch personnel, after Lincoln County Rope Rescue Team responders were reportedly unable to reach them safely due to a lack of anchor points.

“This serves as an example of the importance in continually building and maintaining our agency partnerships,” said Chief Warrant Officer Alfredo Rivera, command center supervisor at Sector North Bend. “It’s through our cooperative efforts, that we are better able to meet the emergency response needs of our communities.”

There were no reported injuries.
