Coast Guard, local agencies suspend search for person in the water

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a person in the water in the Lower Mississippi River from mile marker 164 to mile marker 110 near Gramercy, Louisiana, Monday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call from the Tug Miss Courtney that a crewmember had gone missing. He was last seen at approximately 11:15 p.m., Sunday.

Involved in the search was:

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew
Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane aircrew
Coast Guard Station New Orleans 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew
Port of South Louisiana Port Authority Responder vessel
The search lasted approximately 15 hours, and the total area searched was approximately 136 square miles.
