Coast Guard, local agencies searching for person in the water in Downtown Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard, along with members of local agencies, are searching Friday for a person in the water in the St. Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville.

Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center were notified of the situation at 6:03 p.m. The initial report stated a person had fallen into the water off the Riverwalk, near the Acosta Bridge.

A crew aboard a 29-foot Response Boat-Small from Coast Guard Station Mayport was diverted at 6:03 p.m. and arrived on scene at 6:23 p.m. to search.

Other agencies involved include Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department.
