Coast Guard, local agencies searching for people in distress in Connecticut.

Northeast Atlantic Coast Guard NewsNEW YORK – The Coast Guard is responding to a report of persons in distress near Stamford Harbor Lighthouse, Stamford, Conn., today.

At approximately 11:38 p.m., Sunday, watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command center in New Haven, Conn., received several reports of people trapped under a 22-foot capsized vessel.

A Coast Guard rescue boatcrew from Station Eatons Neck, N.Y., and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., are searching along with local police and rescue agencies.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
