Coast Guard, local agencies searching for overdue kayakers off Folly Island, South Carolina

45 3FOLLY ISLAND, S.C. — The Coast Guard, along with members of Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Folly Beach Fire and Police Departments, are searching for two overdue kayakers in the area between Folly Island and Morris Island Lighthouse, South Carolina.

Overdue are Dean Britt, 22 years old, and Logan Brown, 21 years old, last seen aboard two kayaks; one red and one green.

A friend of the kayakers notified watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center of the situation, at approximately 9:40 p.m. The initial report stated the two departed Folly Beach at approximately 1 p.m., and planned to kayak to Morris Island Lighthouse. Both kayakers were expected back before sunset.

Crews aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Sector Charleston and a 45-foot Response Boat—Medium from Coast Guard Station Charleston Coast Guard Sector Charleston were launched to search for the kayakers.
