BOSTON — The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching for a missing swimmer Tuesday near Biddeford Pool, Maine after he was reported to have entered the water from the shore and not re-emerge.
The Coast Guard was notified at approximately 3:45 p.m. by a bystander who witnessed a man in a red bathing suit enter the water and swim for about 15 minutes before going missing.
Coast Guard small boat crews from Coast Guard Station South Portland and Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team South Portland responded to search the area.
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew also launched to assist in the search.
Other agencies responding include the Maine Marine Patrol, the Biddeford Fire Department, and the Saco Fire Department.
