Coast Guard, local agencies searching for missing San Francisco deputy

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a possible person in the water in the vicinity of Vallejo, Calif., Monday.

The Coast Guard received a report at approximately 6:45 a.m. Monday of an unmanned 26-foot pleasure craft adrift in the Vallejo Marina.

Upon receiving the call, the Coast Guard immediately launched crews aboard a 25-ft. response boat from Coast Guard Station Vallejo, and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco.

Once on scene, it was found that the engine was not running, but the keys were in the ignition.  A cell phone and identification belonging to a San Francisco County Sheriff’s Deputy were found aboard.  The vessel registration was confirmed to match the identification.

The missing deputy has been identified as 56-year-old Michael Roberts, a black male, 5-foot-11 inches, weighing approximately 190 pounds.  He may be wearing fishing clothing.   The Coast Guard and Vallejo Police Department are asking anyone with any information to please call the Vallejo Police Department at 707-648-4321.
