HOUSTON — Coast Guard, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a missing man near the mouth of the Colorado River, between Freeport and Port O’Connor.
Missing is a hispanic male between 25 and 30-years-old, assumed to be in boxer shorts.
The man’s friends reportedly left him sitting at their campsite for an hour or so and when they returned, his cell phone, shorts and shirt were sitting on the beach and he was gone.
His friends called 911 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Monday evening. Police dispatch notified Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders shortly after that.
Aircrews aboard an Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and an Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane searched from the air, while a Texas Parks and Wildlife boatcrew searched the water and the sheriff’s department combed the shoreline.
Watchstanders planned on launching another Coast Guard helicopter aircrew for a first-light search this morning.
