Coast Guard, local agencies search for missing kayaker near Eatons Neck, NY

NEW YORK — The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a kayaker that went missing near Crab Meadow Beach, New York, Sunday afternoon.

Missing is Selbin Enamorado, a man in his 20s.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound were notified by the Huntington Harbor Master of a kayaker who went missing.

Sector watchstanders issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB) and launched Coast Guard Station Eatons Neck.

Agencies involved in the search include:

  • Coast Guard Station Eatons Neck
  • Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod
  • New York State Park Rangers
  • Suffolk County Marine

Before heading out on the water all mariners, including kayakers and other human powered craft, should be well informed about the waterways they plan to use. Prior to heading out, the Coast Guard urges all mariners to file a float by telling a friend or family member where you are going and when you expect to return. Let them know that if you do not return by your expected time frame to call the Coast Guard or local authorities that you may need assistance.
