Coast Guard, local agencies search for missing boater near Haulover Inlet, Fla.

Southeastern Coast Guard NewsMIAMI — The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a missing 22-year-old man after his boat took on water and capsized a half mile east of Haulover Inet, Fla., at approximately 2 a.m. Monday.

Miami-Dade Police Department dispatch contacted waterstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami with the report of a boat taking on water and capsizing with two persons aboard. One of the male swimmers made it to the shoreline and contacted local police to report he and his friend attempted to swim to the shoreline when he lost visual of him.

Coast Guard and local agency crews were launched and are currently searching approximately two miles offshore and six miles north of Haulover Beach, Fla.

  • Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, Fla.,
  • A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)
  • Miami-Dade Police Department
  • Sunny Isles Police Department
  • Bal Harbour Police Department
