PONCE DE LEON, Fla. – The Coast Guard, local first responders and community leaders will formally agree in writing on a plan for any future mass rescues off the coast of Ponce De Leon at Coast Guard Station Ponce De Leon Inlet Tuesday at 11a.m.
The memorandum of understanding is a formal agreement between the Coast Guard and its local partners, which will help ensure a speedy and organized response in case a mass rescue is required off the Volusia County coast. The plan helps to establish agency roles, staging points and resource allocations.
Representatives from the Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Red Cross, local law enforcement and emergency services, and owners of local commercial passenger vessels will attend the formal signing ceremony.
