Coast Guard launches for second Catalina Island medevac

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Coast Guard medevaced a 45-year-old man who was suffering from seizures and Peptic ulcers from Catalina Island, Calif., late Friday morning. This is the second medevac from the island the Coast Guard has conducted today.

The Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach Command Center received another request for help from the Catalina medical facility for the man. A Coast Guard Flight Surgeon recommended transport to a hospital on the mainland.

Air Station Los Angeles launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and safely transported the man to Torrance Memorial Hospital in Torrance, Calif.

A commercial air transport company and other government agencies air assets were unable to assist due to low visibility.
