Coast Guard, Kauai Fire Department searching for missing swimmer near Queen’s Bath, Kauai

65 Barbers PointHONOLULU — The Coast Guard and the Kauai Fire Department are searching for a missing male swimmer near Queen’s Bath, in Princeville, Kauai, Thursday.

Missing is 28-year-old Mykola Grebeniuk.

Grebeniuk was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and green shorts.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point are currently searching and the crew of Coast Guard Cutter Galveston Island is currently en route. Kauai Fire Department is searching with helicopter and jet ski crews.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast has been issued alerting mariners in the area to keep a sharp lookout and report any sightings to the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center.

Watchstanders at Sector Honolulu received a relayed call at 10:08 a.m. from the Kauai Fire Department stating a 23-year-old male had been swept off the rocks at Queen’s Bath.

Anyone with information that may help locate Grebeniuk is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at 808-842-2600.

Weather conditions are currently reported as 14 mph winds with waves 20 to 30 feet and good visibility.
