Coast Guard Issues Environmental Assessment of Proposed Modernization

Washington – The Coast Guard today published a Notice of Availability (NOA), a draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) and a draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for it’s proposed modernization.

Under the National Environmental Policy Act, the Coast Guard is required to consider the potential environmental impacts of modernization within both the Coast Guard and in the geographic areas where the modernization could occur, including the Oakland/Alameda, Baltimore/Washington and Portsmouth/Norfolk areas. Based on their analysis, the Coast Guard feels there will be no significant impact on the environment. A copy of the draft PEA (1.6 Mb file) and associated documents is available for download here.
