Coast Guard invites public to safety fun day at Station Oak Island, NC

OAK ISLAND, N.C. — The Coast Guard invites the public to attend the annual U.S. Coast Guard Station Oak Island Safety Fun Day at the station, Saturday.

Coast Guard crew members along with North Carolina first-response agencies will demonstrate a variety of search and rescue gear and procedures and will be available for interviews.

Children will enjoy activities and marvels to include a heaving line toss, fire trucks, police cars, Coast Guard boats, survival suits, a rescue swimmer demonstration, Sammy the sea otter and much more.

Admission is free but requires a photo ID for adults. Hamburgers, hotdogs and snacks will be available for cash sale.
