BARBOURSVILLE, W. Va. – U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Huntington is investigating the early morning fatality of a deckhand on-board a Marathon towing vessel, Tuesday.
Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Huntington received a report that a deckhand, Gary C. Adams, 25, of Waterloo, Ohio, fell overboard from the towing vessel Tri-State, while the vessel was maneuvering at the Marathon Petroleum dock near Kenova, W.Va., at approximately 1:30 a.m.
The Coast Guard is responsible for investigating accidents involving commercial vessels for the purpose of improving transportation safety on the nation’s waterways.
