Coast Guard interdicts, repatriates 25 Cuban migrants

MIAMI — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket repatriated 25 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Sunday.

While on a routine patrol, A C-130 fixed-wing aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla. located a rustic vessel with migrants aboard south of Key West, Fla., Wednesday. The cutter Nantucket arrived on scene and safely embarked the 25 Cuban migrants.

Once aboard a Coast Guard cutter, all migrants are provided with food, water, shelter and basic medical attention.

The cutter Nantucket is a 110-foot patrol boat homeported in St. Petersburg, Fla.
