Coast Guard holds TWIC pre-enforcement conference

BALTIMORE – The Coast Guard will be holding a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) pre-enforcement conference Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at 9 a.m. to help port facility security officers better understand Coast Guard TWIC enforcement roles and responsibilities.

Key speakers at the conference will be Capt. Brian Kelley, Captain of the Port of Baltimore, Maureen Fanguy, Transportation Security Administration and Melvin Jackson, Maryland Port Administration.

Media are invited to attend a press availability at 8:30 a.m. at the Maryland Port Administration’s South Locust Point Cruise Ship Terminal located at 2100 East McComas St., Baltimore, Md., for interviews. It is requested that interested media meet at the terminal no later than 8:15 a.m.

Dec. 30, 2008 marks the TWIC programs compliance date for owners and operators of facilities located within the Port of Baltimore.
