Coast Guard helicopter medevacs injured crewman

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a vessel approximately 70 miles south of Marsh Island, LA late Thursday afternoon.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 2:00 p.m., from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, reporting that a crewman working on the shrimping vessel the Krisna had been injured while attempting to transfer tools from another fishing vessel. The injured man was reported to be in shock suffering from an injury to his leg.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans crews launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter to pick up the man and transported him safely to South Louisiana Chabert Medical Center in Houma.
