Coast Guard Helicopter Crew Rescues 2

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued two people from a 19-foot pleasure craft tonight just south of Hopedale.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call for assistance at 6:10 p.m. reporting a disabled vessel taking on water with two adult men aboard. The boat was located near Lake Robin, just south of Hopedale.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew to rescue the people. The helicopter crew quickly arrived on scene, hoisted both men to safety and transported them to Air Station New Orleans.

Rescued were Charlie Harper, Jr., 48, and Kenny Derkins, also 48, of Avondale, La.
