Coast Guard Helicopter Crew Medevac’s Barge Crewman

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 59-year old man from a barge late last night about 20 miles south of Belle Pass.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 11:08 p.m., reporting that a crewman on a work barge was coughing up blood.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans crews launched a rescue helicopter to pick up the man and transported him safely to West Jefferson Hospital for treatment.
