Coast Guard, Good Samaritans Rescue Fisherman

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Coast Guard crews and good Samaritans assisted with the rescue of two North Carolina fishermen in the Pamlico Sound off the coast of North Carolina Monday night.

A 47-foot motor lifeboat from Station Oregon Inlet, N.C., and an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., were launched at approximately 10:30 p.m. after notification from the fishing vessel Jennifer G. that the fishing vessel Unpredictable was sinking.

Before Coast Guard crews arrived on-scene, the Jennifer G. and an unidentified vessel rescued two fishermen from the sinking vessel. The fishermen were transferred to the Coast Guard and brought back to shore. No injuries were reported.
