SEATTLE — The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan assisted two people along and their two dogs 65 miles west of Tillamook, Ore., Monday morning.
The operator of the Harvest Moon 3 contacted Coast Guard Sector Columbia River watchstanders, relaying a call from the 50-foot fishing vessel, Hatta 3 that they were taking on water.
Sector watchstanders dispatched a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay and an MH-60 Jayhawk crew from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, to assist.
Currently, the good Samaritan on the Harvest Moon 3 has taken on board one of the Hatta 3 passengers. The rescue swimmer from the helicopter crew was lowered to assist to the owner of the Hatta 3 in de-watering operations.
