HOUSTON — The Coast Guard and Galveston Police Department marine division are searching for a 50-year-old man after a good Samaritan came upon his boat with its engines still engaged and only a dog aboard in the West Bay off Galveston, Wednesday.
Missing is Lee Haverman of Houston.
The good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders at approximately 4 p.m., notifying them of the abandoned 17-foot pleasure craft.
Coast Guard crewmembers are currently searching aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Houston.
“We’re executing all efforts possible to locate the missing man,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Robert B. Maddox, an operations specialist at Sector Houston-Galveston. “We’ve got an air asset searching as well as a partner agency conducting search and rescue operations.”
