Coast Guard, FWC search for overdue 45-year-old man and his dog near Waccasassa Bay, Fla.

WACCASASSA BAY RIVER, Fla. — Coast Guard crewmembers along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are searching for a 45-year-old man and his dog in a 24-foot Grady-White Cuddy Cabin near here, Thursday.

Missing is Jimmy Parkerson of Gulf Hammock, Fla.

Parkerson’s girlfriend contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Yankeetown at 1:17 p.m., reporting that her boyfriend was overdue from a fishing trip. She had received a text message at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, saying Eleven Prong, with no other information. Eleven Prong is a fishing destination in Inglis.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater and two boatcrews from FWC are currently searching for Parkerson.

Anyone with information on Parkerson are asked to contact watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg at 727-824-7506.
