Coast Guard finds overturned boat near Mt. Hope Bay Bridge

1st Coast Guard District NewsBRISTOL, R.I. – U.S. Coast Guard crews are searching the waters where a small boat was found overturned under the Mount Hope Bay Bridge, July 2, 2011.

U.S. Coast Guard watchstanders received a public call reporting an overturned 12-foot aluminum boat at approximately 5:30 a.m.

A Coast Guard 45-foot rescue boat crew from Station Castle Hill and a Bristol Fire Department boat crew launched to investigate and found the overturned boat with items including oars and sandals inside. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew is also en route to search the area.

Other local partner agencies are aiding in the search.
