KIII-TV3 in Corpus Christi, Texas reports that
A family has been reunited tonight after a man and his girlfriend went on a sailing trip and didn’t’t return when they were scheduled. Today they were found thanks to the man’s 12 year old son who alerted the Coast Guard.
The couple had no way to communicate with the outside world. They didn’t’ t even have a cell phone on them.
When they didn’ t show the man’s son began to worry. He spent the night along, but this morning when still his father did not show up at their boat slip, the boy went to the U.S. Coast Guard. That decision really paid off.The Coast Guard dispatched two ships, one out of Corpus Christi and the other out of Port Arthur. The boaters were found marooned on a sand bar when they had to spend the night. They arrived just after 5:00 this evening.
The son met his dad and his girlfriend late the afternoon after they were towed in by the Coast Guard. .
