ANCLOTE KEY, Fla. – At 9 a.m. today, a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater helicopter crew located the body of a boater who was reported missing at about 10 p.m. yesterday in the vicinity of Anclote Key, Fla.
Michael Carlo, 57, of Holiday, Fla., was reported overdue by his wife at about 10 p.m. yesterday when he failed to return home from a fishing trip. Mr. Carlo lauched a 13-foot Boston Whaler from the Ozona Shore boat ramp at about 5 a.m. yesterday and was expected to return by 4 p.m. yesterday.
Crews from Coast Guard Station Sand Key and Air Station Clearwater, officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit, Honeymoon Island Park Rangers and Anclote Key Park Rangers searched through the night with no sign of Mr. Carlo.
A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater helicopter crew located the overturned vessel at 8:15 a.m. today east of Honeymoon Island. At 8:54 a.m. the crew located Mr. Carlo deceased in the water north of Anclote Key.
