Coast Guard Expands Search Effort for Overdue Diver

McKinleyville, Calif. — The U.S. Coast Guard continues to search for missing Bay Area resident and experienced underwater diver, Kawika Chetron.

Search and rescue units from along the California Coast continue searching an area 40 miles off shore, near Cape Mendocino to as far South as Fort Bragg. Units include a C-130 fixed wing aircraft from Air Station Sacramento; HH-65 Dolphin helicopters from Air Station Humboldt Bay and San Francisco; a 378-foot High Endurance Cutter from San Diego, 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat from Humboldt Bay; 47-foot Motor Life Boats from Stations Noyo River and Humboldt Bay.
