Coast Guard Evacuates Man from Oil Rig in Gulf of Mexico

NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard helicopter crew medevaced a 51-year-old man from an oil rig approximately 190-miles southwest of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico early Friday, Oct. 17, 2008.

A watchstander from Air Station New Orleans received a call at 3:30 a.m. from the Eight District Command Center, reporting that a crewmember on an oil rig required a medical evacuation.

Air Station New Orleans launched a HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew to the scene and safely transported the crewmember to West Jefferson Medical Center for treatment.
