Coast Guard evacuates man from charter vessel near Grays Harbor, Wash.

13th Coast Guard District NewsSEATTLE – The Coast Guard evacuated a 54-year-old-male from a charter vessel in Grays Harbor, Wash., Thursday.

The crew of the Charter Vessel Slammer contacted the Coast Guard at 9:15 a.m., reporting that a passenger was having chest pains.

A HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew out of Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Ore., and a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor, deployed to assist.

The motor lifeboat crew arrived first and began performing CPR. The man was then transferred to the helicopter crew. He was transported by the helicopter crew to local emergency medical personnel at Bowerman Airport, Hoquiam, Ore., arriving at 10:45 a.m.

The man was pronounced dead upon arrival to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.
