Coast Guard establishes temporary safety zone during winter storm Jonas

No Admittance - Safety  ZoneBALTIMORE — Coast Guard Sector Baltimore established a temporary safety zone Saturday for navigable waterways within the Baltimore captain of the port zone.

The safety zone is to protect personnel, vessels and the marine environment from potential hazards on navigable waters caused by winter storm Jonas.

Entry of vessels or persons into this zone is prohibited unless specifically authorized by the COTP of Baltimore until 10 a.m. Thursday. Vessels already at berth, mooring or anchor during the time of the safety zone do not have to depart.

All vessels underway within the safety zone are to depart the zone.

Mariners desiring to transit through the safety zone must first obtain authorization from the COTP of Baltimore or the designated representative.  To obtain permission, contact 410-576-2693 or use marine band radio VHF-FM channel 16.
