Coast Guard establishes safety zone in Ocean City, N.J.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. – The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone by the Ocean City 9th Street Bridge Sept. 22 until Sept. 24 and again Sept. 27 until project completion, set to end on or before Sept. 30 at 11:59 p.m.

The safety zone is set for:

Sept. 22 at 12:01 a.m. until Sept. 24 at 11:59 p.m.

Sept. 27 at 12:01 a.m. until no later than Sept. 30 at 11:59 p.m.

The safety zone will be in place for the safety of mariners on navigable waters during construction on the Route 52 bridge at Intercoastal Waterway mile 80.4 and will restrict access to the entire section of the ICW during this time.

Mariners are urged to schedule plans accordingly, allowing for transit through the project site between Sept. 25-26, or to utilize available portions of the ICW and the open waters around the project location. Prior to transiting around the project location, the Coast Guard encourages mariners to reference current Notice to Mariners of the area to provide safe passage.
