Coast Guard enforces safety zone for 4th annual Crystal Coast Super Boat Grand Prix – correction

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. – The Coast Guard will stop all vessel traffic transiting the Morehead City channel that attempt to enter the safety zone Sunday from 10 a.m. to the end of the 4th annual Crystal Coast Super Boat Grand Prix races.

The Coast Guard along with Atlantic Beach Police Department, North Carolina Wildlife, and Morehead City Police Department will also be removing any vessels anchored within the safety zone. This includes the west side of Radio Island and Brant Island.

“To keep everyone safe; local, state, and federal agencies are on scene to direct vessel traffic,” said Senior Chief Petty Officer David Hooley, Officer in Charge of Station Fort Macon.

Editors Note: The original story stated that the safety zone was Saturday.  It is in fact on Sunday.
