Coast Guard ends search in Narragansett

BOSTON — The Coast Guard has ended its search, Mon., Aug. 30, 2010, for the 25-year old man who fell in the Narragansett Bay, R.I., Sun. 29, 2010.

The search ended at 6 p.m., after several Coast Guard crews scoured more than 1,200 square miles for nearly 30 hours, but did not find any signs of the missing Massachusetts man.

Crews from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Coast Guard stations Castle Hill and Point Judith, the Coast Guard cutters Chinook, Tiger Shark and Grand Isle, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the Narragansett Fire Department all searched for the 25-year old.

The Coast Guard began the search after receiving a report from 911 that four people had fallen into the water off rocks in Narragansett Bay. Three of the people were rescued, two of which were transported to a local hospital.
