Coast Guard ends search for missing swimmer

CLEVELAND – Coast Guard crews ended their search at 8:40 p.m. for a woman in Lake Erie who was reported missing since Thursday night.

Search crews were on scene continuously since the Coast Guard was notified at 8:30 p.m. Thursday night. Coast Guard crews alone searched 10 separate sorties, or search missions, in the area. Along with those sorties conducted by local and state boats, the area searched combines to be about 148 square nautical miles.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
