NEW YORK – The Coast Guard ended their search for a possible person in the water near Smith Point Beach, New York, Monday.
The search was ended after a body matching the description of the missing person was located and recovered along Smith Point Beach near Old Inlet.
Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received report at approximately 6:50 a.m., Monday, that a Suffolk County shore unit located and recovered an unresponsive body in the water.
On Sunday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound were notified by the Suffolk County Police Department at about 6:40 p.m., of an African American man between the age of 19 to 21 years, wearing a white and grey swim suit who reportedly went missing while swimming.
