Coast Guard ends search for missing swimmer near Destin, Florida

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard ended its search for a missing swimmer near Destin, Florida, Tuesday.

The Coast Guard searched approximately 469 square-nautical miles for approximately 18.5 hours.

There were no signs of distress or correlating reports of missing people.

Involved in the search were:

  • Coast Guard Station Destin 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew
  • Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew
  • Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew
  • The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Manowar
  • Fort Walton County Sheriff’s Office
  • Fort Walton Fire Department
  • Destin Beach Lifeguard

Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a report at 2 p.m. Monday of a missing swimmer last seen swimming 150 yards off the beach by Seagrove Place.
