NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has ended the search for a man missing near Cat Island, Mississippi, after his body was found Monday.
A Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel located the body, and Mississippi Department of Marine Resources recovered it and transferred it to shore where a Mississippi Coroner positively identified the body as the missing person in the water.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report of a missing 45-year-old male wearing a pink muscle shirt and shorts at 5:21 p.m., Saturday.
Involved in the search were:
- Coast Guard Station Gulfport 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew
- Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew
- Coast Guard Cutter Stingray crew
- Mississippi Department of Marine Resources
- Gulfport Fire Department
- Daphne Search and Rescue
