Coast Guard ends search for missing kayaker near Dauphin Island

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard concluded its search for the missing kayaker near Dauphin Island, Alabama, Tuesday.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a call and confirmed that the owner of the kayaker was safe and had lost his kayak.

Sector Mobile watchstanders received a call from a mariner at 10:48 a.m. Monday reporting a green kayak with personal effects aboard in view of Dauphin Island parkway.

Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew at 11:03 a.m. and a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew at 11:09 a.m.
