BOSTON — The Coast Guard ended its search for a possible missing kayaker in Nantucket Harbor, near Pocomo Beach, in Nantucket, Mass., Tuesday.

The kayaker contacted the Nantucket Police Department at approximately 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, and reported that he and another male had been on board the kayak and they had capsized earlier in the afternoon. Boaters on a sailing vessel in the area were able to pick both men up and returned them to shore, but were unable to retrieve the kayak.

The man contacted officials after seeing photos of his kayak online and learning of the search.
