HOUSTON — The Coast Guard ended its search Saturday for a boater who fell overboard near Texas City, Texas.
A body was recovered at approximately 6 p.m. matching the description of the missing boater.
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a notification Friday at approximately 8:30 p.m. of a 40-year-old male who reportedly fell from a 22-foot recreational vessel without a lifejacket.
“While I am extremely saddened by the fact that we did not achieve our desired outcome in this search, I am encouraged by the coordinated and comprehensive efforts of our interagency first responder team,” said Lt. Cmdr. Jarod Toczko, search and rescue mission coordinator at Sector Houston-Galveston. “My deepest and sincerest condolences go out to the family during this very difficult time.”
