Coast Guard Cutter visiting Wilmington, N.C., for Azalea Festival

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Dependable is scheduled to take part in the 62nd North Carolina Azalea Festival from April 3 through April 5 in Wilmington.

The Dependable, based in Cape May, N.J., will arrive at the Coast Guard moorings on Water Street in downtown Wilmington at noon Friday. The Dependable is a sister ship to the Wilmington-based CGC Diligence.

The cutter’s commanding officer, Cmdr. Laura M. Dickey, is a native Wilmingtonian and a 1986 graduate of New Hanover High School.

The ship will be open for tours from 4 p.m. until sunset Friday, from 9a.m. until sunset Saturday, and from 9 a.m. until noon Sunday.

The Dependable is a 210-foot Medium Endurance Cutter with 75 crewmembers.
