Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma Coming Home

KITTERY, Maine – Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma returns to its homeport of Kittery, Maine, Saturday after a two-month patrol.

Tahoma, a 270-foot medium-endurance cutter, spent the first three weeks of July in Little Creek, Va. conducting Tailored Annual Cutter Training (TACT). Tahoma’s crew received high scores in navigation, engineering, and damage control drills during the highly successful training period.

Following TACT, Tahoma spent six weeks conducting a law enforcement patrol in the Eastern and Central Caribbean. While patrolling the Caribbean and Windward Islands, Tahoma conducted hurricane avoidance as a result of Hurricane Dean. The storm forced cancellation of a planned visit to the island of Barbados. Despite stormy weather, Tahoma’s crew was able to enjoy some well deserved rest in Curacao and Aruba.
