Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma Change of Command Scheduled

Kittery, Maine – Cmdr. Keith A. Willis will relieve Cmdr. Gregory P. Hitchen as Commanding Officer of the cutter Tahoma in a change of command ceremony scheduled for May 31st in Kittery, Maine.

The change of command is a time-honored ceremony that formally restates the continuity of the commanding officer’s authority and represents a total transfer of accountability from one individual to another.

Hitchen is transferring to Sector New York, where he will be assuming the duties of Response Department Head.

Willis comes to the Tahoma from his position as the Coast Guard Liaison at Commander, U.S. Second Fleet after having served as Assistant Coast Guard Liaison at U.S. Fleet Forces Command and Joint Forces Command from August 2004 through August 2006.

The Tahoma has a crew of 100 active duty personnel who carry out homeland security, search and rescue, and law enforcement missions.
