Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast to deliver Halloween scares for charity Saturday

Coast Guard District 13 NewsASTORIA, Ore. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast will host the Coast Guard’s Annual Haunted Ship Tour in Astoria, Saturday, to benefit the Clatsop County Food Bank.

Visitors are invited to take a spook-filled tour of the vessel in exchange for a donation of non-perishable food items or warm clothing for the less fortunate.

Tours will run from 5-9 p.m. Saturday and are appropriate for all ages. The Cutter Steadfast is located at Pier 17 adjacent to the Astoria Maritime Museum at 1792 Marine Drive in Astoria.

The Coast Guard Haunted Ship Tour has been an Astoria tradition for at least a decade with the event trading hands between the Cutters Alert and Steadfast throughout the years depending on vessel and crew availability.

“This will be the Steadfast’s first time hosting the event in three years and the crew looks forward to putting on a good show for the community and helping the needy,” said Ensign Derek Puzzuoli, Communications Officer aboard the Steadfast.
