CHARLESTON, S.C. – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Oak towed a disabled 65-foot fishing vessel to Charleston Monday at 10:30 p.m.
The Provider was fishing more than 100-miles off the coast of Charleston with four people aboard when it lost engine power. The Provider requested assistance from the closest Good Samaritan, which began to tow the disabled fishing vessel.
The Provider eventually became too difficult to tow and the Coast Guard was called to continue towing the vessel back to safe harbor. The crew of the cutter Oak was then diverted to tow the vessel to Charleston, and brought it back to Charleston harbor.
The weather on scene was reported as 25-knot winds and eight-foot seas.
